The first Istanbul Festival in 1973, the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey
Film screenings, theater, jazz, ballet performances and exhibitions in historical places were also included in the program.
Cinema Days, which started to be organized as a separate section in 1983, was named International Istanbul Film Festival in 1989; 1987 was the beginning of the International Istanbul Biennial. The International Istanbul Theater Festival started in 1989.
KSV continues to work in order to take Istanbul to the forefront among the world's culture and art capitals, to play an active role in the production of contemporary culture and art and to contribute to the creation of cultural policies.
